The event featured a marketplace, softball competition, food vendors, and numerous children’s attractions such as a foam party celebration, inflatable playgrounds, face art, a magician, and many additional entertainment options.
Event organizer Amanda Reimer recalls being in ninth grade when a peer suggested the name ‘Friendship Festival,’ which she immediately felt was an ideal choice.

Among the vendors was Boberta’s Dragons Reptile Rescue. Founder Annette Lyss shared their reason for participating in the Friendship Festival.
“We’re a rescue organization based in La Broquerie. Our goal here is twofold: to increase awareness about our rescue efforts and to gather funds for our ongoing operations. Many reptiles arrive at our facility in poor health, requiring specialized veterinary care to nurse them back to health.”
Her explanation for reptile checkups
She explains that routine checkups for reptiles aren’t too costly, but expenses can quickly mount when they fall ill and require specialized treatment.
“We’re also focusing on educating people about the importance of thorough research before getting any pet, especially reptiles. It’s crucial to have all the necessary equipment ready beforehand. Many animals we receive are sick because they didn’t receive proper care prior to arriving here.”
She adds, “Be sure you’re prepared for the responsibility before bringing a reptile home. If you’re set on getting one, please think about adopting a rescue or purchasing from a trustworthy breeder.”
